Book Review: Catch a Star

51xjyv-26nl-_sx322_bo1204203200_I recently had the chance to read Catch a Star by Tamika Catchings with Ken Petersen. This book is definitely an interesting one, and Tamika’s story is inspiring. However, this is not a book for someone who has little to no interest in basketball, as the majority of this book is focused around the sport. I personally enjoyed reading about Tamika’s childhood and upbringing, but I felt a little lost when basketball started to become the focus. It was such a central theme to the point that I felt overwhelmed at my lack of knowledge and interest in the sport, and was compelled to set the book aside. That being said, if you are an avid basketball fan or a fan of Tamika Catchings, then definitely pick up this book. Tamika has a way with words and is very relatable. If, however, you–like me– have very little interest or knowledge of the sport, then this book may not be for you. I received this book from the publisher in exchange for my fair and honest review.
